Hair Today, Gone Tonight (Day +4)

Just another quick update from Team Max. We had another good day today. Max was once again happy to wile away the hours chilling out with his assortment of books, cars and drawings.

Over the past two days we noticed that his hair was starting to fall out, so today decisive action was taken and a haircut of sorts was given. As the hospital wouldn’t give me a pair of clippers, I spent an hour or so passing my hands through Max’s hair with the hair easily coming away from his scalp.....starting with a mohawk....progressing to the final masterpiece...
Here are the results:
As you can see, Max is still as handsome as ever. He doesn't seem to be fazed by his lack of hair in the slightest and actually enjoyed me aiding in the hair removal process. We will enjoy this new look of Max's for around 6 months, until his new hair will start to grow.Tim has assured me that he will join Max in the 'buff' head department by shaving his head...I look forward to seeing that!

We learnt today that Max's neutrophil and white blood counts are officially down to zero. Although this is scary and we have to make sure we are extremely vigilant in keeping those pesky germs away....it's good to know that from here on in the only way is up!

Thankyou to Mapa for taking Tim and I out for a delicious dinner tonight, and to Mawa for looking after our little champion whist we were away.

  2. Hi Bee,
I am glad you found such a simple way of dealing with the progress to no hair - when Mack's hair was thinning we waited and Mack said it actually started to "hurt" (not something he says very often!), I think where he had hair next to bald patches the bald patches seemed sensitive until we shaved it off. Max looks gorgeous as ever - that smile is blinding! Lucky he's got such a nice head, would suit any hair, or no hair as the case may be. I love reading your blogs, it feels like we are at the window to Max's room looking in. You and Tim paint such a clear picture, I come to visit you guys every day for my update. Hope the reign of peace in there continues.
    Love,
    Sue xx

  5. Two calm days in a row, that is fantastic.Max looks so cute. I will be getting my knitting needles out to make Max a very special and warm beanie for winter. As Tim is joining him - does that mean I will have to make him one to?

  7. Hey Bees,
Thinking of you all but as school draws to a close, I thought I'd better fil you in on some recent events.Hynninen has not been able to even log onto his computer since you left. Gellie is getting increasingly annoyed at your absence from briefings and Jill told you to 'have a good day'. Words out that Ewan may be leaving his wife for a '73 Kingswood Ute in almost mint condition but we are waiting for confirmation.
Thinking of you all and hope Max continues to shine. Remember he is not the only strong one!!!
    Keep up the good work.
